Welcome to Better You Tutoring

Looking for ways to help your child develop critical thinking, reasoning, and communication skills?

Do you want your child to explore moral, social, and ethical issues in a safe space?

Looking for opportunities for your child to share ideas, understand themselves and others and hear different perspectives?

I run small, personal GCSE tutoring sessions and weekly debate clubs that give students the chance to think deeply, discuss big ideas, and build confidence in expressing themselves.

I'm Amy, I am a qualified teacher who taught in schools for 16 years before becoming a tutor.  I'm a lead examiner and a passionate supporter of home education. I also home educated my own four children.

I run all GCSE courses myself, drawing on over 18 years of teaching and lead examining experience. I keep sessions small and personal so that every student gets the support and guidance they need to feel confident.

My approach is inclusive and SEN-friendly, with a strong focus on creating a calm, supportive environment where neurodivergent students and those with additional needs feel understood, valued, and able to thrive.

I specialise in GCSE Philosophy & Ethics, Psychology, and Sociology, with a focus on helping students strengthen their critical thinking and develop a real understanding of each subject.

Alongside academic tutoring, I also host weekly debate clubs. These give students the chance to discuss moral, social, and ethical issues in a safe, welcoming space. It’s a chance to share ideas, listen to different perspectives, and build confidence in expressing themselves.

What I enjoy most is seeing how these conversations often continue beyond our sessions—sparking curiosity, thoughtful discussions with friends and family, and a genuine love of learning that lasts well beyond exams.
